My full name is Raymond Christopher Qualls. In an effort to keep my name from competing with the titles of my stories on a book cover, I decided to shorten it to R. C. Qualls.

My desire to write stories dates back to a 5th grade writing contest. Instead of writing a history-focused entry like the other students, I wrote a science fantasy story set on a faraway world in another galaxy. The story didn’t win, but the effort hooked me on writing.

My life took a winding road since my elementary school days, but when I reached the half-century mark I decided to return to my dream of writing the stories I imagined long ago. My books are the continuing products of that decision, and I hope to create many, many more.”
